I’ve been on downtime now for just over two weeks. It’s been a nice change of pace. I haven’t been doing too much, lots of relaxing and enjoying all kinds of different desserts! I think I’ve had ice cream almost every night. We also have an abundance of mini chocolate bars all over the condo so I’ve been eating one, two, maybe six a day. Kelly gets pretty excited about holidays and Halloween was no exception. She had the condo decorated, a pumpkin outside and orange lights all around the front door in preparation to hand out candy to all the little ones. But, we didn’t get a single kid! It wasn’t a huge surprise as we basically live on the UBC campus. So, we had a box of 125 mini chocolate bars to spare. There’s surprisingly still a lot left.
As far as training…I took the first week almost entirely off with the exception of a couple easy runs. Then, last week I got back into the pool for 5 swims, 3k each, all easy with lots of drill and IM. I also got out for 5 runs and 2 rides. By the end of the first week I was getting pretty antsy so although it’s not much it feels good to be “training” again. I was also in the gym a couple times last week working on core strength and flexibility. One of my goals this winter is to get stronger so I figured I might as well get going on it now.
This week will be a lot like last week. No real structure – just getting out, staying active and keeping in touch with a bit of intensity. I’m also going to try to polish off the rest of the halloween candy. With Kelly’s help I think we can do it!
