First race of the Euro Trip is now over. Another solid swim/bike but struggled again on the run with stomach cramping. It was a lot more manageable than what I experienced in Des Moines but still certainly not ideal.
I took a real close look at my nutrition plan and made some significant changes coming into this race. I’m glad I did because I’m feeling much more confident with it but I’m convinced it’s more than just a nutrition/hydration problem. I had a good chat with Coach Phil after the race and we’re going to try a few new things in the next week to see if we can get to the bottom of this.
I’ve spent the last 2-3 years working really hard on my swimming so I could put myself in contention to use my running strength. For so long I posted top running splits but from second and third chase packs where at best I could run myself into 20th. Now I’m at the point where I can consistently put myself at the front of the race coming off the bike so it’s frustrating not being able to run to my potential.
